Summary of Anti-consumer practices

Car Thing

In 2019, Spotify announced the "Car Thing," a $90 device marketed as a voice-controlled interface for selecting music and podcasts while driving.[1] Spotify released an article which explained the device will no longer be operational after December 9th, 2024.[2] In the same article, Spotify advised "Car Thing" owners to "contact your state or local waste disposal department to determine how to dispose of or recycle Car Thing in accordance with applicable laws and regulations."[2] This announcement rendered the "Car Thing" obsolete, leaving users with a product they were instructed to dispose of.
