Bose QuietComfort earbuds are reported from many consumers that you cannot get a new case for the earbuds if anything happens to the product; even when purchasing the case only secondhand, it will not allow it via effectively bricking the earbuds by comparing serial numbers.
One user claims that customer support can get trade-ins with a purchase instead of being allowed to simply purchase a new case. The listed number is $126, which is far more than half the price for the least complicated part of the entire unit, and even so a lot more hassle and work that could have been done by simply purchasing a new working case. However, other users are told to simply purchase an entire new unit, implying a dissonance and lack of congruence with Bose customer support.
