Replacement of CS:GO[edit | edit source]

Unlike previous releases in the Counter-Strike series, Counter-Strike 2 was released as an update to the existing game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (2012), instead of being released as a new title. Due to this change, Global Offensive was removed from users their libraries and is currently no longer available to those who purchased the game, except for a "legacy" version which does not officially support online play.[1][2]
