Incidents

This is a list of all consumer protection incidents this company is involved in. Any incidents not mentioned here can be found in the SiriusXM category.

Lifetime licenses (2019)

In 2019, a lawsuit was filed alleging the lifetime memberships that costed $357-$755 should be good for the life of the consumer rather than the device itself.[4] The lawsuit was settled in 2021, with 964,000 individuals receiving $421.5 million in benefits.[5]

A similar suit was filed in 2020, but was later dismissed and settled out of court in 2022.[6] SiriusXM no longer offers lifetime memberships.

Subscription cancellation (2024)

In November 2024, a New York judge found SiriusXM liable for the “long and burdensome” process of cancelling a SiriusXM subscription, which violated the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act.[7] The lawsuit was filed in December 2023 and it was reported it took 11 minutes to cancel over phone and 30 minutes to do so online.[8]
