How to deal with bugs

He is a veteran professional in dealing with all sorts of MediaWiki issues in a professional production environment, who works on a paid, hourly contract basis. Since this wiki has no source of income, I would like to limit utilization of paid outside contractors until(or if even) this ever finds a way to become a self-sustaining entity.
